The BUZZARD, THE BUMBLE BEE, THE BAT & People !!

If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top. THE BAT: The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkable nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash. THE BUMBLEBEE: A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape> at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near...

YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW!!! (A sort of modern-day parable)

The man slowly looked up. This was a woman clearly accustomed to the finer things of life. Her coat was new. She looked like she had never missed a meal in her life. His first thought was that she wanted to make fun of him, like so many others had done before. "No," he answered sarcastically. "I've just come from dining with the president.. Now go away." The woman's smile became even broader. "Leave me alone," he growled... To his amazement, the woman continued standing. She was smiling -- her even white teeth displayed in dazzling rows. "Are you hungry?" she asked. Suddenly the man felt a gentle hand under his arm. "What are you doing, lady?" the man asked angrily. "I said to leave me alone." Just then a policeman came up. "Is there any problem, ma'am?" he asked. "No problem here, officer," the woman answered. "I'm just trying to get this man to his feet. Will you help me?" Th...

I Have Learned That..

I Have Learned That I've Learned... That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person. I've Learned... That when you're in love, it shows. I've Learned... That just one person saying to me, "You've made my day!" makes my day. I've Learned... That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world. I've Learned... That being kind is more important than being right. I've Learned... That you should never say no to a gift from a child. I've Learned... That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in some other way. I've Learned... That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with. I've Learned... That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand. I've Learned... That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders fo...

10 Principles of Life

Stop and ask yourself today, “How do I really feel about myself?” Before you answer read these ten principles. Better yet, keep them before you daily. ******** (1) Never think or speak negatively about yourself; that puts you in disagreement with God. ******** (2) Meditate on your God-given strengths and learn to encourage yourself, for much of the time nobody else will. ******** (3) Don’t compare yourself to anybody else. You’re unique, one of a kind, an original. So don’t settle for being a copy. ******** (4) Focus on your potential, not your limitations. Remember, God lives in you! ******** (5) Find what you like to do, do well, and strive to do it with excellence. ******** (6) Have the courage to be different. Be a God pleaser, not a people pleaser. ******** (7) Learn to handle criticism. Let it develop you instead of discourage you. ******** (8) Determine your own worth instead of letting others do it for you. They’ll short-change you! ******** (9) Keep your shortcomings in perspe...
