Azad hind fauz and netaji

""Subhash ji told me that the tune of 'Qaumi Tarana' should be so powerful and inspiring that when INA soldiers render the same, it should stir the soul of not only the soldiers but millions of Indians also. On October 31, 1943, the INA came into power and my orchestra played the Qaumi Tarana. The Cathay Building reverberated thunderously. It was a humble step towards liberating India from the British rule", recalled Captain Ram Singh in a 2002 interview.

A soldier who won the King George VI Medal for bravery during the 1937-39 Khyber-Phaktunwala war, Captain Ram Singh Thakuri later became the band master of Subhash Chandra Bose's Indian National Army. His songs 'Kadam Kadam Badaye Ja' and 'Quami Tarana' went on to become one of the greatest sources of inspiration for INA soldiers.

Yet few Indians know his story. It's time this changed.

Capt Ram Singh was born in Bhagsu Khaniara village near Dharamsala in Himachal on August 15, 1914. His father Havaldar Delip Singh groomed him to join the Army, and after schooling, he joined the IInd Gorkha Rifles in 1927 at Dharamsala cantonment as a recruit boy in the band.

"I was inspired by my maternal grandfather Nathu Chand to learn music. Later on, I got training from renowned British musicians Hadson and Danish in brass band, string band and dance band in Army", he would later recall.

In 1941, Captain Ram Singh was promoted and sent to Malaya with his unit during World War II. In a battle with Japanese, he became a prisoner of war and later joined the INA to help free India from the British Raj.

Recognizing his musical talent, Bose himself hired him as INA's band master.

In 1944, Capt Ram Singh was decorated by Subhas Chandra Bose with a gold medal. "Netaji wanted that the gold medal should be presented to me by the Indian Government on some historic day. But this could not happen. Later on, General Lokanand presented this gold medal to me at Rangoon in the presence of all INA officers on January 23, 1944."

Netaji's citation which was read out at the function: "Today we are presenting the gold medal to Captain Ram Singh for his musical creation on behalf of the supreme command of the INA." At that time, 'Qaumi Tarana' of the INA was sung by 30 lakh Indians who had settled in East Asia.

Interestingly, Captain Ram Singh had an opportunity to play the song in the presence of Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi much later

"We were imprisoned at Kabul line cantonment in Delhi. About 7 p.m. we were asked to get ready. Two or three cars stopped in front of our barrack. Bapuji stepped down from one car, he was accompanied by Sardar Patel. We were all in queue. Bapuji asked about the name and village of each INA soldier. General Bhonsle of the INA made a plea to Sardar Patel that the INA soldiers wanted to play the Qaumi Tarana. And so we did"", Captain Ram Singh shared in an interview.

In 1948, Captain Ram Singh Thakur along with his orchestra group was recruited in the PAC band of Uttar Pradesh. He retired in 1974. In 2002, he passed away at Lucknow at the ripe age of 87.

Zero vs infinite

*How do you know you are rich?*

Amazing answer by Mr Awadhesh Singh:

When I was doing my B Tech, there was a Professor Talukedar who used to teach us 'Mechanics'.

His lectures used to be very interesting since he had an interesting way to teach and explain the concepts.

One day, in the class, he asked the following questions,

1. What is ZERO?
2.What is INFINITY?
3. Can ZERO and INFINITY be same?

We all thought that we knew the answers and we replied as following,

ZERO means *nothing*
INFINITY means *a number greater than any countable number*
ZERO and INFINITY *are opposite and they can never be same*

He countered us by first talking about infinity and asked, 'How can there be any number which is greater than any countable number?'

We had no answers.

He then explained the concept of infinity in a very interesting way, which I remember even after more than 35 years.

He said that imagine that there is an illiterate shepherd who can count only upto 20.

Now, if the number of sheep he has less than 20 and you ask him how many sheep he has, he can tell you the precise number (like 3, 5 14 etc.). However, if the number is more than 20, he is likely to say "TOO MANY".

He then explained that in science infinity means 'too many' (and not uncountable) and in the same way zero means 'too few' (and not nothing)

As an example, he said that if we take the diameter of the Earth as compared to distance between Earth and Sun, the diameter of earth can be said to zero since it is too small.

However, when we compare the same diameter of earth with the size of a grain, diameter of earth can be said to be infinite.

Hence, he concluded that the same thing can be ZERO and INFINITE at the same time, depending on the context, or your matrix of comparison.

The relationship between richness and poverty is similar to the relationship between infinity and zero.

It all depends on the scale of comparison with your wants.

If your income is more than your wants, you are rich.
If your wants are more than your income, you are poor.

I consider myself rich because my wants are far less than my income.

I have become rich not so much by acquiring lots of money, but by progressively reducing my wants.

If you can reduce your wants, you too can become rich at this very moment.

Story of deepawali

*Dhanteras* (Sanskrit: धनतेरस), also known as Dhanatrayodashi or Dhanvantari Trayodashi, is the first day that marks the festival of Diwali in India and the festival of Tihar in Nepal.

Dhanteras Vrat Katha - story of Goddess Lakshmi and the Farmer
Once, Goddess Lakshmi insisted Lord Vishnu to accompany Him during one of His visits to the earth. Lord Vishnu agreed but on the condition that She would not fall for earthly temptations and would not look in the south direction. Goddess Lakshmi agreed to this condition of Lord Vishnu.

However during their visit to the earth, due to Her Chanchal (चञ्चल) nature Goddess Lakshmi got tempted to look in the south direction. When Goddess Lakshmi was not able to resist her urge to look in the south direction, She broke her pledge and started moving towards south. As soon as Goddess Lakshmi started moving in southern direction, She was mesmerized with the beauty of yellow mustard flowers and sugarcane fields on the earth. Finally, the Goddess Lakshmi fell for the earthly temptations and decorated herself with the mustard flowers and started enjoying sugarcane juice.

When Lord Vishnu saw that Goddess Lakshmi has broken her pledge, He got annoyed and asked Her to spend the next twelve years on the earth as a penance, serving at the field of the poor farmer who has cultivated mustard and sugarcane in the field.

With the arrival of Goddess Lakshmi, the poor farmer became prosperous and wealthy overnight. Gradually, twelve years passed and the time for Goddess Lakshmi to return back to Vaikuntha had come. When Lord Vishnu came to the earth in disguise of an ordinary man to take Goddess Lakshmi back, the farmer refused to relieve Goddess Lakshmi from his services.

When all attempts to by Lord Vishnu failed and the farmer didn't agree to relieve Goddess Lakshmi from his services, Goddess Lakshmi revealed her true identity to the farmer and told him that She could not stay any longer on the earth and need to go back to Vaikuntha. However, Goddess Lakshmi promised the farmer that She would visit him every year during the night of Krishna Trayodashi before Diwali.🥳✨💥🔥

The winner

#Science says that the amount of semen that is released once an adult healthy male has intercourse contains 400 million sperm.

So, according to logic, if that amount of sperm found a place in the womb of a girl, then 400 million babies would be created!

Out of this 400 million #sperm, running like crazy towards the egg, only 300-500 sperm survive.

And the rest? They die of exhaustion or defeat on the way. These are 300-500 sperm, which have been able to reach the ovum. Only one of them, a very strong sperm, fertilizes the ovum, or takes a seat in the ovum. That lucky sperm is you or me, or all of us.

Have you ever thought of this great war?

1. When you ran "there were no eyes, hands, feet, head, yet you won.

2. When you ran, you didn't have a certificate, you didn't have a brain, but you won.

3. You had no #education when you ran, no one helped but you won.

4. You had a destination when you ran and you ran with a single mind, aiming at that destination and you won in the end.

- After that, many #babies are lost in the mother's womb. But you are not dead, you have completed 9 full months.

- Many babies die at birth but you survived.

- Many babies die in the first 5 years of life. You are still alive.

- Many children die of malnutrition. Nothing happened to you.

- Many have left the world on the way to growing up, you are still there.

And today ......

You panic when something happens, you get frustrated, but why? Why do you think you lost? Why have you lost confidence? Now you have friends, siblings, certificates, everything. There are hands and feet, there is education, there is the brain to plan, there are people to help, yet you have lost hope.

When you did not give up on the first day of life. Fighting to the death with 400 million sperm,  you  won the competition alone without any help by running continuously.

Why do you break down when something happens ??
Why do you say I do not want to live?
Why did I say I lost?

 why are you frustrated?

Why would you lose? Why rate? You won in the beginning, you will win in the end.

You were born a winner !

Tolerance vs Lebnon

The two diamonds

A beautiful story..

A merchant wanted to purchase a gorgeous camel in the market and after spotting one,  began to setlle for it with the seller!

There was a long bargain between the merchant and the camel-seller, and finally the merchant bought the camel and took it home!

On reaching home, the merchant called his servant to take out the camel's kajave (saddle) ..!

Under the kajave, the servant found a small velvet bag which upon opening revealed him to be full of precious diamond gems ..!

The servant shouted, "Boss, you bought a camel, but look what came with it for free!"

The merchant was also surprised, he saw diamonds in his servant's hands which were shining and twinkling even more in the sunlight!

The merchant said: "I have bought a camel and not the diamonds, I should return it immediately!"

The servant was thinking in his mind, "How stupid my boss is ...!"

He Said: "Nobody will know who the owner is!" However, the merchant did not listen to him and immediately reached the market and returned the velvet bag to the shopkeeper.

The camel-seller was very happy. He said, "I had forgotten that I hid my precious stones under the kajave!

Now, you choose any one diamond as a reward!

The Merchant said, "I have paid the right price for the camel, so I do not need any gift and prizes!"

The more the merchant refused, the more the camel-seller insisted!

Finally, the merchant smiled and said, "In fact, when I decided to bring back the bag, I had already kept two of the most precious diamonds with me!"

After this confession, the camel-seller was infuriated and he quickly emptied the bag and began to count his diamond gems!

But after he counted them with a heavy sigh of relief, he said "These are exactly as many as I had, so which were the two most precious ones that you kept?"

The merchant said: ...
*"My honesty and my self-respect."*

The camel-seller was dumb-struck!

We have to look within ourselves to find out if we possess any of these 2 diamonds.

*Anyone who has these 2 diamonds, HONESTY AND SELF-RESPECT, is the richest person in the world.*

Leadership Tata style

Chairman, TATA Steel was holding a weekly meeting with Tata Steel staff  in Jamshedpur.

A worker took up a serious issue. He said the quality and hygiene of toilets for the workers was very bad. Whereas, he  pointed that the cleaniness and the hygiene of executive toilets was always very good.

Chairman asked his top executive how much time he needs to set it right. The executive asked for a month to set it right.

Chairman said "I would rather do it in a day. Send me a carpenter."

Next day, when the carpenter came, *he ordered the sign boards to be swapped*.

The sign board on the workers' toilet displayed "Executives" and the Executives' toilet displayed "Workers".

Chairman then instructed this sign to be changed every fortnight.

The quality of both the toilets came at par in the next three days.

*The Leadership is something much more than being an Executive*

Einstein God spinoza

When Einstein gave lectures at U.S. universities, the recurring question that students asked him most was:
- Do you believe in God?
And he always answered:
- I believe in the God of Spinoza.

Baruch de Spinoza was a Dutch philosopher considered one of the great rationalists of 17th-century philosophy, along with Descartes.

(Spinoza) : God would say:

Stop praying.
What I want you to do is go out into the world and enjoy your life. I want you to sing, have fun and enjoy everything I've made for you.

Stop going into those dark, cold temples that you built yourself and saying they are my house. My house is in the mountains, in the woods, rivers, lakes, beaches. That's where I live and there I express my love for you.

Stop blaming me for your miserable life; I never told you there was anything wrong with you or that you were a sinner, or that your sexuality was a bad thing. Sex is a gift I have given you and with which you can express your love, your ecstasy, your joy. So don't blame me for everything they made you believe.

Stop reading alleged sacred scriptures that have nothing to do with me. If you can't read me in a sunrise, in a landscape, in the look of your friends, in your son's eyes... ➤ you will find me in no book!
Stop asking me "will you tell me how to do my job?" Stop being so scared of me. I do not judge you or criticize you, nor get angry, or bothered. I am pure love.

Stop asking for forgiveness, there's nothing to forgive. If I made you... I filled you with passions, limitations, pleasures, feelings, needs, inconsistencies... free will. How can I blame you if you respond to something I put in you? How can I punish you for being the way you are, if I'm the one who made you? Do you think I could create a place to burn all my children who behave badly for the rest of eternity? What kind of god would do that?

Respect your peers and don't do what you don't want for yourself. All I ask is that you pay attention in your life, that alertness is your guide.

My beloved, this life is not a test, not a step on the way, not a rehearsal, nor a prelude to paradise. This life is the only thing here and now and it is all you need.

I have set you absolutely free, no prizes or punishments, no sins or virtues, no one carries a marker, no one keeps a record.
You are absolutely free to create in your life. Heaven or hell.

➤ I can't tell you if there's anything after this life but I can give you a tip. Live as if there is not. As if this is your only chance to enjoy, to love, to exist.

So, if there's nothing after, then you will have enjoyed the opportunity I gave you. And if there is, rest assured that I won't ask if you behaved right or wrong, I'll ask. Did you like it? Did you have fun? What did you enjoy the most? What did you learn?...

Stop believing in me; believing is assuming, guessing, imagining. I don't want you to believe in me, I want you to believe in you. I want you to feel me in you when you kiss your beloved when you tuck in your little girl when you caress your dog when you bathe in the sea.

Stop praising me, what kind of egomaniac God do you think I am?

I'm bored being praised. I'm tired of being thanked. Feeling grateful? Prove it by taking care of yourself, your health, your relationships, the world. Express your joy! That's the way to praise me.

Stop complicating things and repeating as a parakeet what you've been taught about me.

What do you need more miracles for? So many explanations?

The only thing for sure is that you are here, that you are alive, that this world is full of wonders.

- Spinoza

Hero's of faith

When a train filled with a large transport of Jewish prisoners arrived at one of the Nazi killing centers, many Polish gentiles came out to watch the latest group as they were taken away. As the disoriented Jews were gathering their possessions to take with them into the camp, a Nazi officer in charge called out to the villagers standing nearby, "Anything these Jews leave behind you may take for yourselves, because for sure they will not be coming back to collect them!"

Two Polish women who were standing nearby saw a woman towards the back of the group, wearing a large, heavy, expensive coat. Not waiting for someone else to take the coat before them, they ran to the Jewish woman and knocked her to the ground, grabbed her coat and scurried away.
Moving out of sight of the others, they quickly laid the coat down on the ground to divide the spoils of what was hiding inside. Rummaging through the pockets, they giddily discovered gold jewelry, silver candlesticks and other heirlooms. They were thrilled with their find, but as they lifted the coat again, it still seemed heavier than it should. Upon further inspection, they found a secret pocket, and hidden inside the coat was .... a tiny baby girl!

Shocked at their discovery, one woman took pity and insisted to the other, "I don't have any children, and I'm too old to give birth now. You take the gold and silver and let me have the baby." The Polish woman took her new "daughter" home to her delighted husband. They raised the Jewish girl as their own, treating her very well, but never telling her anything about her history. The girl excelled in her studies and even became a doctor, working as a pediatrician in a hospital in Poland.

When her "mother" passed away many years later, a visitor came to pay her respects. An old woman invited herself in and said to the daughter, "I want you to know that the woman that passed away last week was not your real mother ..." and she proceeded to tell her the whole story. She did not believe her at first, but the old woman insisted.

"When we found you, you were wearing a beautiful gold pendant with strange writing on it, which must be Hebrew.
I am sure that your mother kept the necklace. Go and see for yourself." Indeed, the woman went into her deceased mother's jewelry box and found the necklace just as the elderly lady had described. She was shocked. It was hard to fathom that she had been of Jewish descent, but the proof was right there in her hand. As this was her only link to a previous life, she cherished the necklace. She had it enlarged to fit her neck and wore it every day, although she thought nothing more of her Jewish roots.

Some time later, she went on holiday abroad and came across two Jewish boys standing on a main street, trying to interest Jewish passersby to wrap Tefillin on their arms (for males) or accept Shabbos candles to light on Friday afternoon (for females). Seizing the opportunity, she told them her entire story and showed them the necklace. The boys confirmed that a Jewish name was inscribed on the necklace but did not know about her status. They recommended that she write a letter to their mentor, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, explaining everything. If anyone would know what to do, it would be him.

She took their advice and sent off a letter that very same day. She received a speedy reply saying that it is clear from the facts that she is a Jewish girl and perhaps she would consider using her medical skills in Israel where talented pediatricians were needed. Her curiosity was piqued and she traveled to Israel where she consulted a Rabbinical Court (Beit Din) who declared her Jewish. Soon she was accepted into a hospital to work, and eventually met her husband and raised a family.

In August 2001, a terrorist blew up the Sbarro cafe in the center of Jerusalem. The injured were rushed to the hospital where this woman worked. One patient was brought in, an elderly man in a state of shock. He was searching everywhere for his granddaughter who had become separated from him.
Asking how she could recognize her, the frantic grandfather gave a description of a gold necklace that she was wearing.

Eventually, they finally found her among the injured patients.
At the sight of this necklace, the pediatrician froze. She turned to the old man and said, "Where did you buy this necklace?"
"You can't buy such a necklace," he responded, "I am a goldsmith and I made this necklace. Actually I made two identical pieces for each of my daughters. This is my granddaughter from one of them, and my other daughter did not survive the war."

And this is the story of how a Jewish girl, brutally torn away from her mother on a Nazi camp platform almost sixty years ago, was reunited with her father .....

About Hinduism

Pl circulate - Ten Things a Hindu can do While using English Language: - written by Francois Gautier (check his Facebook page. He knows more Hinduism than many of us)

# 01.
Please stop using the term "God fearing" - Hindus never ever fear God. For us, God is everywhere and we are also part of God. God is not a separate entity to fear.
It is integral.
# 02.
Please do not use the meaningless term "RIP" when someone dies. Use "Om Shanti", "Sadhgati" or "I wish this atma attains moksha/sadhgati /Uthama lokas".  Hinduism neither has the concept of "soul" nor its "resting". The terms "Atma" and "Jeeva" are, in a way, antonyms for the word "soul".(to be understood in detail)

# 03.
Please don't use the word "Mythology" for our historic epics (Ithihaas) Ramayana and Mahabharata.  Rama and Krishna are historical heroes, not just mythical characters.

# 04.
Please don't be apologetic about idol worship and say "Oh, that's just symbolic". All religions have idolatry in kinds or forms - cross, words, letters (calligraphy) or direction.
Also let's stop using the words the words 'idols', 'statues' or 'images' when we refer to the sculptures of our Gods.
Use the terms 'Moorthi' or 'Vigraha'. If words like Karma, Yoga, Guru and Mantra can be in the mainstream, why not Moorthi or Vigraha?

# 04.
Please don't refer to Ganesh and Hanuman as "Elephant god" and "Monkey god" respectively. You can simply write Shree Ganesh and Shree Hanuman.

# 05.
Please don't refer to our temples as prayer halls. Temples are "devalaya" (abode of god) and not "prarthanalaya" (Prayer halls).

# 06.
Please don't wish your children "black birthday" by allowing  them to blow off the candles that are kept on top of the birthday cake. Don't throw spit on the divine fire (Agni Deva). Instead, ask them to pray: "Oh divine fire, lead me from darkness to light" (Thamasoma Jyotirgamaya) by lighting a lamp. These are all strong images that go deep into the psyche.

# 07.
Please avoid using the words "spirituality" and "materialistic". For a Hindu, everything is divine. The words spirituality and materialism came to India through evangelists and Europeans who had a concept of Church vs State. Or Science vs Religion. On the contrary, in India, Sages were scientists and the foundation stone of Sanatan Dharma was Science.

# 09.
Please don't use the word "Sin" instead of "Paapa". We only have Dharma (duty, righteousness, responsibility and privilege) and Adharma (when dharma is not followed).  Dharma has nothing to do with social or religious morality. 'Paapa' derives from Adharma.

# 10.
Please don't use loose translation like meditation for "dhyana" and 'breathing exercise' for "Pranayama". It conveys wrong meanings. Use the original words.

Remember,  the world respects only those who respect themselves!

Please pass it on so that people can understand about Hindu Dharma....
Remember! Sanskrit words are non-translatable.
